Ramu Defends Porn Loving Ministers
By Subhash K Jha
The world and its favourite moral watchdog may be aghast at three ministers allegedly watching a porn clip inside the Karnataka assembly.
Not the shock-proof Ram Gopal Varma.
Rising to the tainted politician's defence Ramu says, "What's the big uproar about? All grownup men watch porn. And those who say they don't are lying. If these ministers were doing so inside the assembly it just goes to prove they were more interested in activities on their phone then in assembly proceedings…Come on, don't we all get bored with our jobs and seek distractions? When I lose focus while directing shots, I also look at my phone for diversion and stimulation, and not just for making calls. When you get tired of writing stories don't you surf porn sites?"
(I don't. Ramu thinks that makes me less than a man).
Ramu feels the porn scandal is a sign of Indians finally growing up.
"We're finally a country of mature adults. Please, let's not act shocked by three politicians watching porn clips. Let's also not make such a hue and cry about porn. It's all-pervasive. When we say, ‘Let's protect children from porn' we are just being stupid. Children neither understand nor get aroused by porn. They need to be protected from violence and abuse. And for that a more legitimate moral sanctioning of pornography is needed. Once we legalize porn there will be less depravity and unnatural crime against children and women."
More than the moral transgression that the Karnataka minsters are guilty of Ramu is worried about the social castigation they would face.
"Imagine, how they'd face their wives after this. ‘Darling, guess what happened in the assembly today?'….. And what about their children? Everywhere they go there will nudges and winks and smirks following them. I feel sorry for the ministers' families."
Ramu feels the era of individual privacy is over.
"We have CCTV cameras everywhere. We've bugging and spying devices in key chains and shirt buttons. Go to the internet, there are thousands of clippings of unsuspecting couples caught making love during their honeymoon. When you go for a pee at a public place you should be prepared to get filmed. There's no privacy, even in the loo anymore. Soon couples would be copulating in public places. So let's not get perturbed about a MMS clip in the assembly. For all we know other ministers may also be looking at porn in the assembly. They never got caught."

Ramu is more amused than shocked at the porn in the assembly. He intends to incorporate the scandal into his next film 26/11, and not only because he loves cannalibalizing real life.
"I just love the whole irony of it. According to me the incident shows our politicians as human, not just corrupt. Let's not waste our anger and shock at such a funny incident. We've a lot more serious issues to be outraged about."
